Hellolanding.com: Deals on Long and Short Term Rentals with Flexible Memberships

We travel frequently, both for business, leisure, and often something in between. Airbnbs are our go-to for longer stays, but I’m always on the lookout for deals, or something better than the average Airbnb.

What is Landing?

Hello Landing caters to a broad audience, ranging from frequent travelers for leisure or work (it’s a favorite of travel nurses!) to people in transitional phases, such as moving between cities or those who just need temporary housing. By partnering with numerous buildings and property managers, Landing provides access to a variety of apartments that can be rented for short or long-term stays.

Furnished Apartments

One of Landing’s key features is their offering of fully-furnished apartments. These come equipped with everything you might need, from furniture to kitchenware, making the move as seamless as possible. It’s an ideal option for those who are looking for a ready-to-live-in space without the hassle of setting everything up.

They have a small edge here over Airbnbs, in that the amenities and kitchenware are more uniform, so you’re never wondering if you’ll open the cabinets to find a chef’s assortment of cookware…..or one chipped mug and an expired can of peaches.

Landing Stay Types

Hellolanding.com offers two types of stays, Standby, and Standard:

1. Landing Standard

Landing Standard is designed for those who are looking for a more traditional leasing experience but with less hassle and added flexibility. Here’s how it works:

  • Stay As Long as You’d Like : Unlike the standby membership, you can stay as long you’d like, and also have the option of transferring to to other Landing apartments across the country.
  • Reasonably Priced: You’ll pay a monthly rent for the apartment you choose that’s based on the length of your stay. (make sure you claim the $250 new member referral discount on your first stay!). Rates vary from city to city and apartment to apartment, but are generally cheaper than Airbnb.
  • More Amenities: In addition to furnished apartments with no deposits or application fees, you’ll be guaranteed parking and have access to pet friendly apartments as well.
  • No Membership Fee: You can sign up for a Landing membership (that also gives you access to Standby), and save 10% of your stays, but you don’t need to have a membership to book a standard Landing apartment.

2. Landing Standby Membership

Landing’s Standby Membership is great if you’ve very flexible, and want the best possible deal.

The Standby option is unique in the rental space, here’s how it works: You can select from currently available apartments and begin a stay, but you may be “bumped” if a Standard member wants to rent the apartment. If that’s the case, you’ll be given at least 3 days notice to move, and will be able to choose from other available apartments–though availability in a particular area is not guaranteed. Note that you can also be bumped before your stay has even begun, as happened to us.

So this option does save you money, but works best for those who can be very flexible with their travel.

  • Cheaper monthly rent. You’ll pay just $1,495 a month in rent, plus a yearly $299 fee for Landing’s Standby membership. This is an awesome deal, and even better with the $250 new member referral discount! You’ll be hard-pressed to find a safe, clean Airbnb in most cities for just $1500 a month.
  • Great amenities: You’ll have access to furnished apartments in 375+ cities, on site support, and won’t pay setup fees, deposits or utility charges.
  • Fewer Perks: Parking is not guaranteed, and pet friendly apartments are not available.
  • Frontier GoWild! Pass: Landing is partnering with Frontier Airlines to offer a free GoWild! pass with your Standby membership. You’ll receive 1 cent base fares on select flights, which can make being bumped from a Landing rental a lot easier to deal with.

Landing Apartment Rental Coupons and Discounts

There’s mulitple ways to save on Landing rentals, and they can be stacked! Here’s our current best discounts at Landing:

  • If you have an Amex card, look through your offers for an Amex offer for 40% off your Landing stay, up to a $250 discount. This offer expires 9/5/25.
  • Landing membership fees have been in flux since the site launched. While there’s currently a fee for a Standby membership, we’ve seen it waived in the past. If you see a membership fee, contact them and ask if it can be waived. The worst they can say is no.

Landing Apartment Rental Review

We’ve stayed in a traditional Landing apartment, through the core membership, and booked a Standby apartment as well. Here’s how it went:

Standby

Let’s start with Standby, as it’s pretty short! We were looking for a stay in the Austin area, and while most of the Landing apartments were in very suburban parts of the city, you really can’t beat $1500 for a month in Austin. So we chose an apartment, and booked it with Standby about 3 weeks before our intended stay.

Just a week later, we received notice that we’d already been bumped, and there weren’t any alternative apartments available in Austin. Landing customer service refunded our money, and we ended up booking an Airbnb instead. Oh well, we knew Standby required flexibility, and it didn’t work out for us this time.

Standard Apartment Rental

For a standard apartment rental, I booked a month in Philly, a city I visit frequently. I paid a monthly rate comparable to Airbnbs in an up and coming neighborhood near Fishtown.

The apartment was modern, new, and well stocked. The vibes are definitely corporate and bland, but overall quite similar to many Airbnbs. I love a stay with a sense of place, but wasn’t in the mood to spend an extra thousand or so for an Airbnb with more ambiance for this trip.

I stayed in March, when the weather wasn’t fantastic, so one of my favorite parts of the stay was access to the apartment complex’s gym. This far less common with Airbnbs in my experience.

Check in and check out were done through the Landing app, and were easy, with one caveat: the day I checked out, I hit the “check out” button in the app just before I left the apartment. Apparently that was a mistake, because checking out removed the detailed check out instructions on where to leave my keys. I had to call customer service–which took a bit–to resolve the question. Other than that little snafu, the app worked well, and I didn’t have any problems during my stay.

The Bottom Line

There’s a proliferation of short term apartment rentals, but we’ve been pretty happy with our Landing experiences. Now is a great time to give them a try, when you can stack multiple discounts for a super cheap stay!
