8 Airbnb Winter Cabins Around the World
Some lucky gals out there are living in a winter wonderland, but the rest of us can probably relate to this time of the year being gray, cold, and generally icky. If I have to put up with this cold weather, I’d rather be cozied up in a cabin watching the snow fly.
1. Norwegian Island Hideaway
Up top, and here, a cute cabin in Norway, with great views of the Northern Lights. It’s cozied away on Gimsøy island, where there’s just 200 inhabitants, and one grocery store…but don’t think that means you won’t have wireless internet.
2. Rustic Japanese Cabin
One of my faves, this little Japanese cabin hits that perfect rustic / minimalist / modern note. On the more rustic end, with a separate outhouse, it’s worth it for the natural beauty. You’re just 3 hours train ride to Tokyo if you get a hankering for civilization.
3. Cozy Vermont Treehouse
This tiny Vermont treehouse is exactly where I want to be right now. Equipped with heat and electricity, you’re not too far from the owner’s house, where you can shower and make use of the hot tub!
4. Luxe French Chalet
How sweet is this French chalet? Perfectly rustic with pops of pink, and mountain views. It’s nestled into a hillside in the French Alps, close to a ski resort, but with the high ceilings and creature comforts you’ll never want to leave.
5. Grandma’s Cabin in Oregon
This sweet cabin in Oregon sits above the Sandy River, and near Mount Hood, if you care to go skiing. Some might call the avocado tinged interior dated, but I love that it feels just like grandma’s house.
6. Mountainside Swiss “Barn”
This cozy little converted barn in Switerzerland’s Eringer Valley couldn’t be more picturesque. Arrange a snow-shoeing tour, or just sit by the window transfixed by the mountain views.
7. Charlevoix Modern Getaway
Scandinavian inspired Villa Boreale in Quebec might be a tad large to call a cabin, but the stunning minimalist aesthetic is utterly peaceful. There’s a ski resort nearby, but I just want to spend my days migrating between the hot tub and that gorgeous high ceilinged living area.
8. Estonian Eco-Cabin
This fairytale Estonian cabin is set in a national forest, where you’re within walking distance of the coast and two lakes. Stop at the strawbale sauna after your hike, and help yourself to free range eggs and veggies from their chicken coop and greenhouse.
